Six of a Kind (Kind Brothers #7)(8)
Author: Sandi Lynn

As I was applying my lipstick, I heard my buzzer ring. After letting Shaun in, he walked up with two coffees in his hand and a smile on his face.

“Good morning.” He handed me a cup of coffee as I stood there with the door open.

“Good morning. Thank you for this.” I held up the cup. “Come on in. I just have to grab my purse, and we can go.”

“Great apartment,” he said as he walked over to the sliding door. “Awesome view.”

“Thanks. I like it.” I smiled.

“Are you nervous?”

“Don’t be. They’re great guys, and you have nothing to be nervous about. They’re very easygoing.”

“You’re not just saying that because they’re your cousins, are you?”

Shaun chuckled. “No. Remember, I haven’t known them very long.”

“That’s right.” I nodded.

We climbed into his car and headed to the medical center.

“I really appreciate you driving me, Shaun.”

“It’s my pleasure, Georgia. Do you know what kind of car you want to buy?”

“I would like to get the new Mercedes Convertible Cabriolet.”

“Nice.” He grinned. “AMG?”

“Of course.” I smiled.

“My first choice is metallic red. If they don’t have that color, my second choice is diamond white.”

“I know a guy. I’ll see what I can do.”

Shaun parked the car in the medical center parking lot, and we both climbed out and walked through the revolving door.

“Good morning, Mr. Kind.” The security guard smiled.

“Good morning, Joe. This is Dr. Georgia Scott.”

“It’s nice to meet you, Dr. Scott.” He gave me a nod.

“You as well, Joe.”

“Good morning, Mr. Kind.” A young blonde-haired woman grinned from behind the large curvature desk.

“Good morning, Moira. This is Dr. Georgia Scott.”

“It’s nice to meet you.” She smiled.

I looked around the large modern lobby filled with floor-to-ceiling windows. We took the elevator up to the second floor. When the doors opened and I stepped out, I froze when I saw a familiar face walking toward us. A look of confusion swept over his face as he cocked his head.

“Lonely Girl—I mean, Nikki?”

“Conner, this is Dr. Georgia Scott.” Shaun introduced us.

“No. This is Nikki from Cabo. She’s the one who—”

“It’s Georgia, not Nikki,” I interrupted him.

He stared at me for a moment and then let out a laugh.

“Fake name.” He wiggled his finger at me with a grin. “I don’t blame you. I’ve had to do that myself at times.”

“Wait a second. You two met in Cabo?” Shaun asked.

“We weren’t formally introduced. Oh, this is going to be good.” Conner’s grin widened. “Shall we?”

My heart was pounding out of my chest. Conner was Jackson’s brother, meaning he owned this medical center. Fuck! I slept with a doctor. I should have known by his hands, precision, and meticulous skills. Instantly, a sick feeling washed over me.

Shaun and I followed Conner to the conference room. As he opened the door, I swallowed the lump in my throat when I saw Jackson and his other brother sitting at the table.

“Dr. Georgia Scott has arrived,” Conner announced.

Both Jackson and his brother turned their heads.

“Lonely Girl?” his brother asked.

“Nikki?” Jackson said. “Wait a second. What the hell is going on?” Jackson stood up from his chair. “You’re Dr. Georgia Scott?” He spoke sternly as he slowly walked over to where I stood.

“Yes,” I nervously answered him.

“Bro, relax.” Conner placed his hand on Jackson’s shoulder. “Remember your rules?”

“My rule is no last names or occupations.”

“And hers is a fake first name. No big deal. Let’s all sit down and conduct this interview,” Conner said.

“It’s nice to meet you, Georgia. I’m the other brother, Nathan.” He extended his hand from across the table.

“It’s nice to meet you, Nathan.” I placed my hand in his.

“I’m going to step out and let you conduct your interview,” Shaun said. “I’ll just be outside.”

I couldn’t believe this. Whom was I kidding? Of course, I could believe it because this shit only happened to me. A million thoughts were running through my head—one being that I should just thank them and walk out. But the way Conner and Nathan made it sound, it was the perfect opportunity to start my practice here. Jackson didn’t say much. He was just as shocked as I was.

When the interview was over, Jackson stood from his chair.

“Thank you for coming in. We’ll be in touch.” He walked past me and out of the room.

“Ignore him, Georgia,” Conner said.

“Yeah. He has issues,” Nathan spoke. “We like you and think you are exactly what we’re looking for and need here at the medical center. Thank you for coming in, and we will definitely be in touch soon.” They both shook my hand.

I smiled at them, walked out of the conference room, and exhaled deeply. My heart wouldn’t stop racing, and my body wouldn’t calm down.

“Are you okay?” Shaun asked.

“I’m fine. Let’s get the hell out of here.” I walked over to the large winding staircase that led to the first floor. “I’m not waiting for the elevator.”

When we climbed into the car, Shaun glanced over at me.

“So, you and Jackson—”

I put my hand up and stopped him.

“It was one time the night before I left. I never intended to see him again. I was never supposed to see him again!” I shouted.

“Georgia, calm down. It was only sex. No big deal.”

“It’s a big deal when you’re not supposed to see that person again, Shaun. I can’t believe I was so stupid. And, of course, he’s a damn doctor. UGH!”

“You two are consenting adults who had one night together. Big deal.”

“Did you see the way he looked at me? He was pissed. Especially because I gave him a fake name.”

“So what. He’ll get over it. I really think you’re overthinking this.”

“How am I supposed to work with him if I get the job?”

“You better start figuring out a way because, trust me, you’re getting that job.” He smiled.

When Shaun pulled into the Mercedes dealership, a brand new Metallic Red Cabriolet AMG was sitting right in front. I looked over at him.

“Told you I have a guy.” He winked.

While purchasing my new vehicle, Shaun left and went to the office. Pulling out my phone, I texted Nikki and asked if she would be around later. She told me she’d Facetime me when her shift ended and that she couldn’t wait to see my new car.

It was an eventful couple of hours. Pulling my phone from my pocket, I sent a message to my brothers in our group chat with a wide grin on my face.
